Eyebrow Transplant Surgery

As one of the key features of our bodies, eyebrows hold an important role in our overall physique. The eyebrows are part of not only our faces’ look but also to our talent to show emotion to those around us. The position, shape, and height of the eyebrows allow us to clearly illustrate emotional reactions without even uttering a word.

The thinning and eventual loss of eyebrows can leave us a rather odd facial configuration, which can even be uncomfortable to look at. Eyebrows also serve the role of protecting our eyes from sweat and rain so they don’t hinder our vision. Completely losing the ability to grow eyebrows is concerning.

The condition of thin or light eyebrows can be remedied with eyeliner drawing to simulate fuller-looking eyebrows. This, of course, requires constant redrawing of the eyebrow contour, even many times the same day. Another, more permanent solution is tattooing the eyebrows to make them appear full again. This eliminates the need for redrawing them, but the results look less than ideal on close inspection.

Like all other hair transplants, eyebrows are transplanted using FUE technique; our surgeon extracts the thinnest hairs from the back side of the head onto the desired area.

A very small part of the donor area would be shaved and anesthetized before extraction. The hairs are harvested with the use of a micro motor with the smallest diameter. After that, the recipient area will be also anesthetized and the channels would be opened using ether steel blade or sapphire blade. The grafts are then implanted into micro holes.

In our clinic, we include one Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) session during the Eyebrow transplant operation. This will significantly influence the engraftment process ensuring the maximum regrowth result.

During the procedure, 50-400 grafts per eyebrow can be implanted into the desired area. Our surgeon will design the best solution for you before the operation; you determine the outline of your future eyebrows to your preference. We will ensure maximum density and natural result.

Eyebrow transplant is not the solution for those who lost eyebrows due to the physical trauma to the area but also for those who experienced hair loss due to over plucking. The surgery leaves no linear scars after the operation and is completely painless

Recovery Tips

Following an Eyebrow Transplant surgery.  Avoid activities that causes excessive sweating such as cardio exercise for at least one month. Steam rooms, swimming pools, and other similar activities should also be avoided. Do not drink any alcohol for at least 1 week after the operation to ensure quick healing. Be cautious, do not touch or comb any areas that received grafts, as they will be sensitive.

Several months after the operation, you will look in the mirror and see bushy eyebrows just like you dreamed, however note that the hair was transplanted from the scalp, and the growth rate would be the same as on the head. Trim your eyebrows once or twice per month, with time the hair will adjust to the slower growth rate and will eventually slowdown.

Eyebrow Transplant Surgery is not recommended for patients with poor donor sites or who have hair loss as a result of medication intake, stress, or medical treatment as these can be reversed.

Unlike organ transplants, you are your own donor for a hair transplant. The roots of your hair have live cells and just like all your other cells, you have your own unique genetic code embedded in them. If your body comes across someone else’s genetic code through transplanted hairs, it would cause an intense immune reaction and your body would reject them. You donate your hair from your own donor area.

It’s normal for the transplanted hair to fall out two to three weeks after the procedure. This makes way for new hair growth. Most people will see some amount of new hair growth 3 to 4 months after surgery and final results within 8 months to a year. When performing the hair transplant operation, your surgeon will make sure to extract and implant hair follicles from your donor area that are not affected by hormones which causes makes them fall out.
